Hello. My name is Susan Sandall. I am Professor Emerita at the University of Washington in Seattle. I am also an associate with projects at Stockholm University. I have enjoyed getting to know many of you during my recent visits to Stockholm. I am excited to stay connected through the Play and Language work.

At the University of Washington, I taught courses in early childhood special education and prepared teachers and prospective researchers in the area of inclusive early learning for children with disabilities from birth to five years. I also work extensively with Head Start, a U.S. program for young children who are living in poverty. While I have retired from my faculty duties, I continue to be involved in a number of projects related to supporting teachers in inclusive programs.

Some of you have heard me speak about Building Blocks, a framework for including and teaching preschoolers with special needs. We are pleased to tell you that the third edition of the book is at the publisher and will be available later this year. You can read more about it here: Haring center for inclusive education
